— MINISTRIES —
At Bayou Sara Baptist Church, we believe ministry is about loving God and serving others. Jesus told us to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of Bayou Sara is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community and spreads to every nation. Bayou Sara members are involved in a variety of ministries. Join one of the several ministries on campus!
Worship Ministry
The Worship Ministry at Bayou Sara exists to glorify God through music and technology. From singing and playing instruments to running sound and media, this team works together to lead the church in worship each week. For more information about serving in worship or tech, please see Bro. Jamie Harvill.
Prayer Meeting
Our Prayer Meeting takes place every Wednesday evening at 6:30 PM. This gathering is a special time for our church family to come together, pray for one another, lift up the needs of our community, and seek God’s direction for our lives and ministries. Our Prayer List is sent throughout our email chain and prayed over throughout the week.
Missions
Missions are a central part of our church’s heartbeat, and Bayou Sara is committed to serving both locally and globally. We partner with Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child, the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home, Disaster Relief efforts, and provide support through our Bereavement and Benevolence ministries. We are also home to one of the largest food banks in South Alabama, ensuring that families in need are cared for and shown the love of Christ.
Kids’ Ministry
The Kids’ Ministry at Bayou Sara serves children in Kindergarten through 5th grade, providing a safe and fun place where they can grow in their knowledge of God’s Word. Sunday School classes meet at 9:45 AM in the Children’s Ministry Building and are led by faithful Sunday School teachers, while AWANAS meets on Wednesday nights at 6:30 PM to help children hide God’s Word in their hearts. For more information, please contact Bro. John Mark Butler or Mrs. Angie Davis.
Youth Ministry
Our Youth Ministry helps students in grades 6–12 build their faith, deepen friendships, and discover God’s purpose for their lives. Youth Sunday School meets at 9:45 AM in the Youth Center each Sunday morning, and students gather for worship and a message on Wednesday nights at 6:30 PM. For more information about our youth ministry, see Bro. John Mark Butler.
College & Career Ministry
The College & Career Ministry at Bayou Sara connects students and young adults as they navigate school, work, and faith. Sunday School meets each week at 9:45 AM in the College & Career Classroom, and Wednesday night worship and Bible study takes place at 7:30 PM. This ministry includes students from the University of Mobile, University of South Alabama, Spring Hill College, as well as young adults beginning their careers. For more information, please see Bro. John Mark Butler.
Women’s Ministry
The Women’s Ministry provides opportunities for women to grow together in Christ and support one another through fellowship. A Bible study is held every other Tuesday at 6:30 PM, and a Sewing Class meets every Monday at 6:00 PM, giving women a chance to learn, serve, and connect.
Men’s Ministry
The Men’s Ministry at Bayou Sara encourages men to grow in their faith, build godly friendships, and lead their families and community with strength and integrity. Men gather each week for Man Church on Monday nights at 6:00 PM, a time of teaching, discussion, prayer, and fellowship. Each year, the Men’s Ministry also hosts a Wild Game Supper, a special event that brings men together for food, fellowship, and encouragement from God’s Word.
Bayou Believers
Bayou Believers is a fellowship ministry for adults of all ages. Through shared meals, travel, and times of encouragement, this group helps adults connect with one another and grow in community as they walk with Christ.
Bayou Community Food Bank
The Bayou Community Food Bank is one of the ways our church meets needs in the Saraland and Satsuma area. As an equal opportunity provider, the Bayou Community Food Bank assists local residents who need support. All those seeking assistance should bring an ID and the number of people in their household.
